 B-17 Flying Fortress

The Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress was the first mass-produced, four-engine heavy bomber. It is still one of the most recognised aeroplanes ever built. It was most widely used for daylight strategic bombings of German industrial targets during World War II as part of the United States Eighth Air Force.

    		The 18th. Annual B-17 Gathering and Scale Bigbird Flyin was a big success. We had 139 registered pilots for the three day event. We also had about 2000 spectators in attendance. Pilots came this year from Missouri, New Mexico, Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Virginia. All the planes looked so good and the detail was excellent. That makes it harder every year to pick the division winners.

    It looked like every one had an enjoyable time and Bomberfield hopes everyone will come back next year.
