B-17 Flying Fortress

The Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress was the first mass-produced, four-engine heavy bomber. It is still one of the most recognised aeroplanes ever built. It was most widely used for daylight strategic bombings of German industrial targets during World War II as part of the United States Eighth Air Force.

Even though Ike gave us some bad weather the week before we overall had a good B-17 & Warbird Gathering for 2008. Spectators were down in attendance but be did have 102 registered pilots. We had several pilots in attendance that were from Norway and flew several planes winning awards. Mack Hodges was suppose to be with us but the week before he had a terrible accident and crashed his B-29 loosing one wing. We will be looking for him next year. Because of weather conditions the Bear was unable to fly. We hope to have more in attendance next year. Maybe the weather will be on our side. Come and join us for a great day of fun.

    Thank you,
    Nick Stratos,
    President
