B-17 Flying Fortress

The Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress was the first mass-produced, four-engine heavy bomber. It is still one of the most recognised aeroplanes ever built. It was most widely used for daylight strategic bombings of German industrial targets during World War II as part of the United States Eighth Air Force.

On June 2 & 3rd 2007 we had our Warbird Flyin. The event was a tremendous success. There were about 40 registered pilots in attendance, some coming from as far as Denver Colorado. Brian O'Meara was here with several show quality Warbirds. The weather was excellent, and the wind about 5 to 10 mph right down the runway. Our goal was for everyone to have a good time and I believe they did. Thanks to our Best of Show pilot, Barry Rayborn. Barry flew three different jets and a Focke Wulf 190, and he flew them all several times. Also thanks to our pals from Louisiana who put on a fine show of Warbirds. Those that could not make it missed a good time and hope to see you there next year. Or better yet see you at the B-17 Gathering in September!
